THE PSYMBIOSYS REFERENCE ARCHITECTURE
PSYMBIOSYS refers to, possibly, widely used standards to promote both its integrability within operative contexts, as well as its capability to integrate and interoperate with other tools and services.
Therefore, the design of the overall detailed architecture, as well as the identification of standards, technical solutions (e.g., protocols, APIs) has been performed taking into account the foci of each WPs.
The PSYMBIOSYS architecture is intended to work as driver for the design of the technical platforms/components in all technical workpackages and in the pilots. All leaders of technical workpackages have been actively involved in the development of this architecture.
The PSYMBIOSYS architecture is centered on functionalities to support integration between the digital and real worlds and among components in the digital world so to foster the information exchange among ideation, modelling, design, PLM tools, as well as production systems, product and services, and human beings (customers and internal people).
The PSYMBIOSYS architecture is inspired to EDA/SOA principles to support flexibility, adaptability and scalability, and refers to, possibly, widely used standards to promote its integration within operative contexts, and its capability to integrate and interoperate with other tools and services. The design of the overall architecture, standards, and technical solutions has taken into account the focus of each WPs.
The PSYMBIOSYS project has structured its research and development approach into a set of wellfocused and interrelated set of work packages (see Figure).
